When you come for a style consultation with me, you will be told which fabrics and textures will work best for you; your body shape, your style personality, your lifestyle and your budget.
The ultimate luxury fabric for Winter has to be cashmere. Once you pull on a cashmere jumper, you will never want to take it off! As well as feeling amazing, cashmere is also extremely practical, offering warmth in the Winter and keeping you cool during warmer months. It rarely pulls and doesn’t wrinkle. Although it is often hand-wash only, which for some is less than ideal, it does travel and wear very well.
Cashmere wool, usually simply known as cashmere, is obtained from cashmere and other types of goats. The word cashmere is an old spelling of Kashmir, a northern-most geographical region of the Indian Subcontinent. Common usage defines the fibre as wool but it is finer and softer than sheep’s wool. This makes it less bulky to wear and so is flattering for both straight and curvy body shapes.
Whilst it would be impractical (and expensive!) to own a wardrobe full of cashmere, it is certainly worth investing in one or two items of cashmere clothing this season, if you can. You may pay a little more, but if you take care of it, it will last you for many seasons.
There are some amazing cashmere pieces to suit all styles this season, here are a few of my favourites…..
I love the range of colours and styles available from Pure Collection, and what’s more they have a machine washable collection of signature pieces too!
This emerald turquoise V neck would suit a wide range of colour palettes.
M & S have an extensive range of cashmere pieces, including jumpers in a range of necklines (funnel, roll, round and V necks), button-through cardigans, coats, hats, gloves and scarves, all at reasonable prices for cashmere!
One of my favourites is this round neck in a plum mix which would look fabulous on those of you with deep or muted colouring.
Many styles are available in a wide selection of colours and some are machine washable.
If you fancy just a touch of cashmere in your life, then one of these cashmere gauze stoles might be the answer.
They are beautifully light and warm at the same time and can be worn as a traditional scarf or as a stole over any garment, formal or informal.
I’d recommend you go for one of the wow colours in your palette (there are 40 to choose from in all palettes) and then team it with multiple outfits in your wardrobe so that you minimise the cost per wear. Please contact me to order to ensure you get the right colour at the right price.
It is fair to say that timeless cashmere is likely to appeal mostly to women with a classic/chic style personality. But cashmere can also be attractive to those of you ‘naturals’ who favour comfort, like this lounge hoodie and joggers.
This range is much more informal and fun, featuring colour blocking, stars, stripes and spots. And the good news is that their cashmere is ethically sourced from inner Mongolia, home to the world’s finest cashmere.
Contact me if you need some advice on how to choose and/or style your cashmere pieces this Winter.
Above all, stay cosy!
